Vaccines, A Thoughtful Approach

Vaccinating kittens isn’t one-size-fits-all—it’s an art! Some vaccines need to be given at specific ages or in a series to build lasting immunity, while others depend on your kitten’s lifestyle, environment, and overall health. We’ll partner with you to design a personalized vaccination plan that keeps your little explorer protected, confident, and ready to meet the world.

Advanced Parasite Control

Almost All Kittens Have Worms: Even the tiniest kittens can be born with or pick up intestinal parasites from their mother’s milk or environment--even if she appears perfectly healthy. That’s why we routinely deworm for the most common offenders and test for parasites that require targeted treatments, ensuring your kitten grows up strong, healthy, and parasite-free.

Nutrition Guidance

Choosing what, when, and how much to feed your kitten can feel like a puzzle—but we’re here to make it simple! During your visits, we’ll talk about everything from the best kitten diets for healthy growth to how often to feed, when to transition to adult food, and what tummy troubles to watch for—so you can feel confident that every bite is helping your little feline flourish.

Picture

Behavior & Enrichment

Understanding your kitten’s natural instincts is key to raising a happy, well-adjusted cat. Every feline follows a powerful “play–hunt–kill–eat” cycle, where playful pounces and toy chases mimic the rhythm of real hunting behavior. Encouraging this pattern through interactive play sessions and food puzzles helps prevent boredom and unwanted behaviors while nurturing your kitten’s confidence and coordination.

We’ll also guide you through healthy litter box habits—from choosing the right box and litter to ensuring ideal placement and cleanliness—so your kitten develops lifelong bathroom success. Each visit is a chance to support your kitten’s natural instincts, physical health, and emotional well-being.

Spay & Neuter Timing

Deciding when to spay or neuter your kitten can feel like a big decision—there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Ongoing research continues to refine the best timing, and we’ll guide you through the benefits and considerations to help you choose what’s right for your feline companion.

Core Vaccinations

Picture

Rabies

A universally fatal viral disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, transmissible to humans. Vaccination is legally required and provides critical protection against this deadly pathogen.
Picture

RCP / "Feline Distemper"

Protects against three serious and highly contagious diseases: Rhinotracheitis (herpesvirus), Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia (feline distemper). These illnesses can cause severe respiratory infections, fever, and even life-threatening complications.
Picture

FeLV

Protects against Feline Leukemia Virus, a contagious and potentially fatal infection that can weaken the immune system and lead to cancer or other serious illnesses. Especially recommended for outdoor cats who may encounter other cats, and for all cats during their first year of life, since kittens are more susceptible to infection and their long-term lifestyle may not yet be established.

Kitten Immunization Schedule

Building Immunity, One Little Paw at a Time
Every kitten follows a gentle, treat-filled vaccination journey designed to keep each visit calm, positive, and Fear Free. If everything stays on track, we’ll follow the standard 8-, 12-, and 16-week kitten vaccine schedule outlined below—carefully timed to build strong, lasting protection.

  • 8 Week Visit

A gentle, thorough start to lifelong health.
    🩺 Doctor’s Exam + Consultation
Your veterinarian performs a gentle, nose-to-tail exam and answers all your questions about growth, nutrition, litter box habits, and vaccines. Each visit is filled with treats, calm handling, and cuddles to help your kitten feel safe and loved.

💙💉 RCP (Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia) #1 of 3 — Intranasal Vaccine
At the 8-week visit, we use the intranasal form instead of the injectable form because it bypasses maternal antibodies transferred through breast milk. This helps your kitten start building protection against these serious viral infections that affect the respiratory and digestive systems right away.

    🎯 Microchip Implantation
A safe, permanent form of identification that helps reunite you with your kitten if they ever wander off on an adventure.

    🧪 FeLV/FIV Testing
Before or during the vaccine series, we recommend a quick blood test that screens for both Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). These viruses can hide without obvious symptoms, so early detection helps us tailor your kitten’s care and protect other cats in your home.

    💩 Intestinal Parasite Fecal Testing
Screens for hidden intestinal worms and parasites that can slow growth or cause digestive issues—because kittens explore everything!

    🍌🪱 Banana-Flavored Dewormer
A tasty dewormer is given at each visit, and a second dose is sent home to ensure complete protection from common intestinal parasites.
  • 12 Week Visit

Growing fast and getting strong. This visit boosts their immunity & confidence!
    🩺 Doctor’s Exam + Consultation
Your veterinarian performs a gentle, nose-to-tail exam and answers all your questions about growth, nutrition, litter box habits, and vaccines. Each visit is filled with treats, calm handling, and soft voices to keep your kitten relaxed and happy.

💙💉 RCP (Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia) #2 of 3
Begins core protection against three serious feline diseases—upper respiratory infections and the life-threatening “feline distemper.”

💚💉 FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) #1 of 2
Protects against one of the most common and contagious feline viruses, which can suppress the immune system and cause lifelong illness. All kittens should receive the FeLV vaccine, even if they live indoors or don’t have feline housemates.

    🍌🪱 Banana-Flavored Dewormer
A tasty dewormer is given at each visit, and a second dose is sent home to keep your kitten protected from common intestinal parasites during these early, exploratory months.
  • 16 Week Visit

The final step in your kitten's core vaccine series, and the start of a happy, health adult life!
    🩺 Doctor’s Exam + Consultation
Your veterinarian performs a gentle, nose-to-tail exam and checks your kitten’s growth, teeth, joints, heart, and coat to ensure they’re thriving as they near the end of their kitten vaccine series. This visit is full of soft voices, treats, and reassurance—a calm and happy finish to their early care journey.

💙💉 RCP (Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia) #3 of 3
Completes your kitten’s core protection against upper respiratory infections and feline distemper, ensuring strong, lasting immunity for the years ahead.

💚💉 FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) #2 of 2
Boosts and completes protection against one of the most contagious feline viruses, which spreads through shared food bowls, grooming, or close contact with other cats. All kittens benefit from this safeguard, even those who live exclusively indoors.

    ❤️💉 Rabies Vaccine
Provides essential, lifelong protection against a fatal disease that can affect both pets and people—required by law and recommended for all kittens.

    🍌🪱 Final Banana-Flavored Dewormer
Your kitten receives their last dewormer dose at this visit, completing protection against common intestinal parasites so they can grow strong, healthy, and parasite-free.
