Doctor's Exams & Consultations

At each visit, your puppy will receive a comprehensive nose-to-tail exam, checking everything from their skin and coat to their heart, joints, and overall growth. Your veterinarian will also take time to discuss new milestones, answer your questions, and guide you through every stage of your puppy’s development.

Vaccines, A Thoughtful Approach

Vaccinating puppies isn’t one-size-fits-all—it’s an art! Some vaccines must be given at specific ages or repeated multiple times, while others depend on your puppy’s size, lifestyle, and immune status. We’ll work with you to create a personalized vaccination plan that balances protection with proper socialization.

Advanced Parasite Control

🪱 "All" (almost) Puppies Have Worms: Worms are commonly passed through a mother’s milk, even if she isn’t actively infected. For this reason, we deworm routinely for the most common and test for the ones requiring specific treatments.

❤️ Heartworm Prevention for Life: Monthly prevention keeps your dog safe from this deadly parasite. We’ll help you choose the best option--oral, combination, or long-lasting injectable—to fit your dog’s age and lifestyle.

Nutrition Guidance

Choosing what, when, and how much to feed your puppy can feel overwhelming—but we’re here to help! During your visits, we’ll cover key topics like whether grains are good or bad, how to feed large breeds safely, and what warning signs to watch for, so you can feel confident about every meal.

Picture

Training & Socializing

Balancing early socialization with disease protection can be tricky—and those early learning windows are too important to miss! We’ll help you navigate this stage with fear-free training tips, housebreaking guidance, and solutions for common challenges like chewing, jumping, kennel training, and door-dashing. Each puppy visit is a chance to set you and your dog up for a lifetime of confidence and success.

Spay & Neuter Timing

Deciding when to spay or neuter your pet can be challenging—there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. New research continues to shape the best timing, and we’ll walk you through the pros and cons of each option to find what’s right for your pet. We’ll also discuss additional procedures that can be done at the same time, such as removing baby teeth, preventing bloat (GDV) with a gastropexy, or taking x-rays while your pet is already under anesthesia—helping minimize future stress and extra sedation.

Core Vaccinations

Picture

Rabies

A universally fatal viral disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, transmissible to humans. Vaccination is legally required and provides critical protection against this deadly pathogen.
Picture

Distemper/Adenovirus/Parvo

This combination vaccine shields against three highly contagious and severe diseases: Canine Distemper (respiratory, gastrointestinal, and neurological issues), Canine Adenovirus (infectious hepatitis), and Canine Parvovirus (life-threatening gastrointestinal illness).
Picture

Leptospirosis

A bacterial disease spreads through contaminated water or wildlife urine, causing kidney and liver damage, and is zoonotic (transmissible to humans). Reclassified as a core vaccine in 2025 due to its high prevalence and the merging boundaries of suburbia and wildlife.

Lifestyle Based Vaccinations

Picture

Bordetella / Kennel Cough

Protects against THREE common respiratory infections—Bordetella bronchiseptica, Canine Adenovirus Type 2, and Parainfluenza virus—which together cause kennel cough, a highly contagious respiratory infection spread among dogs in social settings. Typically recommended for ALL PUPPIES due to their strong need to socialize and see other dogs.
Picture

Canine Influenza

This vaccine protects against two strains of Canine Influenza virus (H3N2 and H3N8), which cause dog flu—a highly contagious respiratory infection that can lead to coughing, fever, and pneumonia, especially in dogs exposed to boarding, daycare, or grooming environments.

Puppy Immunization Schedule

The Right Vaccines, at the Right Time, for the Right Pup.
Every puppy is unique, and their vaccine plan should be too! If everything goes perfectly, we’ll follow the 8-, 12-, and 16-week schedule outlined below—but we always customize each plan based on your puppy’s age, breed, size, and lifestyle. Our team will guide you through a thoughtful vaccination plan that keeps your pup protected while supporting healthy socialization.

    🩺 Doctor’s Exam + Consultation
Your veterinarian performs a full nose-to-tail exam and focuses on your puppy’s unique needs and challenges as they transition into adulthood. Since this is typically the last visit before their annual check-up, we’ll tailor the discussion to what matters most for your pet—whether that’s behavior, nutrition, lifestyle, or next steps in training.

    💙💉 Distemper/Parvo (DAP) #3 of 3
Completes your puppy’s core protection against these serious and potentially life-threatening viruses.

    💚💉 Leptospirosis (Lepto) Vaccine #2 of 2

Helps protect against the contagious “dog flu,” which spreads quickly in grooming, daycare, and boarding environments.

    ❤️💉 Rabies Vaccine
Provides protection against the fatal rabies virus and fulfills legal vaccination requirements. This vaccine does not require a booster until your puppy’s one-year visit.

    🦟🪱 Heartworm Prevention Monthly Chew
Continue this essential monthly protection indefinitely to guard against heartworm, fleas, and ticks. Because puppies grow rapidly, we’ll adjust the dose to match their current weight—sending home a one- to three-month supply (or up to a year if growth has leveled out). We may also set a reminder to re-weigh at home so your puppy always receives the perfect dose.
